In 2012 I decided I wanted a career change from transport management, so I went to college and 3 years later I had gained level 2 and 3 beauty therapy and level 3 nails! Here I learned all the little bits of knowledge I fell in love with the creativity I could put into nails, and after winning 1st place in the college competition, I went on to receive a special recognition award. This is when I realised, I am good at nails, and I know an awful lot! I immediately did further training with CND in acrylic and Shellac services. My college tutor was my inspiration to become an educator myself, so I applied to Huddersfield university and graduated in 2017 as a fully qualified teacher and assessor. Don’t believe anyone who ever tells you that you can’t, because I am living proof, at the age of 31 that you absolutely can!

I taught level 2 and 3 nails in a further education college, before deciding to set up base in a lovely little salon where u have made the best of friends who support me. I now offer all of my treatment services in the salon as well as my own accredited training courses. My biggest achievement so far is becoming an Educator and Brand Ambassador for pure nails! What a fantastic support network the team are! I couldn’t wish for nicer people to work with and I’m so excited for the future!

I have trained with some amazing industry idols over the years, and I have the pleasure of working alongside an amazing team of talented individuals in the pure nails team. There is so much more planned for the future and my passion for this industry is growing every day!

My advice to anyone wanting to join this industry, or those who are finding it difficult to succeed here, is to hang in there. The road is bumpy, but there is so much love and support for you. Practice makes perfect, and perfect is not achieved overnight. Keep going and reach out to others for guidance, and you will certainly achieve your dreams, just as I am starting to reach mine!
